A political cartoon

Anyone who has been paying attention on the Internet recently has no doubt heard that the United Kingdom is in the grip of the most important General Election in a generation. Some might argue about the wording of that sentence but given that the last really game-changing election was in 1997, when New Labour took power, the term is pretty much spot-on.

A political comic depicting Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling as two clowns arguing.

'Out in town with Gordon Clown', created 20 November 2009 in a week where the Labour party was beset by policy U-turns.

A lot has happened since then, and most of it is not good. I’m not going to go into massive amounts of detail because you can get it from any British news site (I’d recommend reading more than one though, because any associated with a newspaper will have an editorially-mandated bias toward one of the major parties. That’s how it goes in newspapers; and most blogs, too). I just wanted to share this old comic I drew around the time we were knee-deep in Labour’s indecisions, flip-flopping and general U-turnery.

For those of you who are British, please do remember to vote on Thursday. It could be the most important decision you’ll make this year.
